What to Expect from Reiki
It’s really very simple. You lie on a treatment couch, fully clothed, though you should remove your shoes (and maybe belts) for comfort.
The Practitioner gently places their hands, starting on the shoulders in a serious of non-intrusive, gentle, still positions either on or hovering close to the body.
Energy flows through the Practitioner’s hands into the Recipient. The hand positions focus on the head, shoulders, torso, legs and feet and are held for anything between a few minutes and ten minutes in each position, depending on the Recipient’s needs. The treatment helps to promote deep relaxation and natural healing.
Little to no talking takes place during Reiki and the treatment is carried out in silence whilst some gentle music is played.
What can I expect after Reiki?
After your treatment you are likely to be feeling relaxed and possibly light-headed. Please ensure you take the time to recover fully should you have to drive home or operate machinery immediately afterwards.
Course of Treatment
It’s possible that you may experience some emotional ups and downs, irritability, tiredness or aches and pains after your treatment. This is quite normal, will last temporarily and is a positive indication that you are releasing things that you do not need.
Drink plenty of water to allow and encourage the flushing out of toxins.
It is likely that you will gain some benefit after receiving one Reiki treatment, but to gain the greatest benefit from Reiki, you will need to follow a course of treatments (ideally 4-6 treatments at weekly intervals) which allow the beneficial effects to build momentum and become more long lasting.
